The Life Teen Podcast is attached. Readings for the Twenty-Eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time: Wis 7:7-11; Ps 90:12-13, 14-15, 16-17; Heb 4:12-13; Mk 10:17-30.
“What do you do when no one is looking? Do you obey the letter of the law or the spirit of the law? These questions takes us to a deeper question about the posture of your heart and the pursuit of your life. Oftentimes we must remember that sin doesn’t spontaneously happen. Sin springs forth from a mindset, from an approach, from a disposition of the mind and the heart. The Gospel today speaks to your motivation: why do you do the things you do and why don’t you; why do you live the way you do and don’t. This boils down to: are you Spirit led; whether you will let God be God; and whether you will let the Holy Spirit have his way inside of you. Are you and I forsaking the eternal for the temporary? Is our energy going into finding the loopholes or finding God?” (Mark Hart)
This podcast is an excellent foundation for a weekly Bible study focused on the readings throughout the liturgical year. These Bible studies can be at the parish, at a coffee shop or even on-line.
