Sunday, Sunday, Sunday: The Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time

18 Aug

The Life Teen Podcast is attached.  Readings for the Twentieth Sunday in Ordinary Time: Prv 9:1-6; Ps 34:2-3, 4-5, 6-7; Eph 5:15-20; Jn 6:51-58.

“How smart are you or the people in your family or your circle of friends?  We are speaking about I.Q.: NASA scientist type of thing.  We value book knowledge in today’s culture but the real pursuit in life should be directed towards wisdom.  Wisdom and knowledge are both gifts of the Holy Spirit but they are not the same thing.  Many times throughout Sacred Scripture the Holy Spirit is known as wisdom.  Wisdom calls us to have a higher perspective…to look at things through God’s eyes.  The Eucharist offers us a heavenly perspective, not an earthly perspective.  We are invited by God to taste and see the goodness of the Lord, not just from intellectual understanding but also with our senses.  Jesus is inviting us to something greater, something higher and something intimate.  In our amen, we respond that we do believe.”  (Mark Hart)

This podcast is an excellent foundation for a weekly Bible study focused on the readings throughout the liturgical year.  These Bible studies can be at the parish, at a coffee shop or even on-line.
