Sunday, Sunday, Sunday: The Twenty-Third Sunday in Ordinary Time

09 Sep

The Life Teen Podcast is attached.  Readings for the Twenty-Third Sunday in Ordinary Time: Is 35:4-7a; Ps 146:7, 8-9, 9-10; Jas 2:1-5; Mk 7:31-37.

“Where we put our time, where we put our allegiance, how we love one another is the core of the Gospel message.  God does not play favorites and God’s mercy does not know limits.  Our Christianity is measured by how we love those who can not stand us…how well we love those who can’t do anything for us.  God is on our side when we feel out-numbered or out-manned.  God is with us even when we feel opposition.  God knows no partiality.  God is the same with the powerful and the powerless.  God is a God of creation and he uses created things to point back to him the Creator.  No wonder we have the Sacraments: water, bread, wine, oil, hand and touch.  Christ comes to us in physical and intimate ways.  He is waiting to touch you, to restore you and to have contact with you.  All he needs to do this is us…to show up and lay everything down.”  (Mark Hart)

This podcast is an excellent foundation for a weekly Bible study focused on the readings throughout the liturgical year.  These Bible studies can be at the parish, at a coffee shop or even on-line.
