The Life Teen Podcast is attached. Readings for the Feast of the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph: 1Sm 1:20-22, 24-28; Ps 84:2-3, 5-6, 9-10; 1 Jn 3:1-2, 21-24; Lk 2:41-52.
“There is a word in our Catholic faith that we use a lot: Consecration. The word, which comes from Latin, literally means intensely dedicated to, or devoted to, something sacred. It is only when we understand this word and this idea of consecration, that we can fully appreciate what the readings tell us and call us too. Jesus reminds us in the Gospel that he is consecrated to God and is really asking Mary why they didn’t search for him first in his Father’s house. Jesus reminds us that the first relationship is with God and then to be obedient to our earthly parents: which is to live into grace. Each of us has the opportunity to rededicate ourselves to God for His service and to do His will. Thank God not only for our earthly family but to thank God for our heavenly family as well as the opportunity to be obedient to God.” (Mark Hart)
This podcast is an excellent foundation for a weekly Bible study focused on the readings throughout the liturgical year. These Bible studies can be at the parish, at a coffee shop or even on-line.
